A: We met at a Bible study and he actually asked me out at the first meeting. I politely declined because I didn't know him very well. We soon became friends and I came to see that he was very caring and kind person who loved God. E: After Amie said no I was a little hurt but respected her decision and eventually moved on to another relationship. That soon ended and I realized I still liked Amie and wanted to pursue her. I was hesitant to ask her out again as she had denied me before. One Sunday, we had lunch with our friends and her sister, Abby, came along. Everything changed that day. A: After a year, I thought he seemed interested in me again. He would do little things like save me a seat next to him for our group lunches and offer to drive me places. We went hiking and he would take pictures of me and seemed to show me more attention. We started texting and I did everything I could to show him I liked him without actually saying it. I had also been telling my sister, Abby, about him and wanted her to meet him. She was finally able to join us for a lunch on October 23, 2016. At the end of lunch she asked Ethan and I if we were ever going to date. We were so embarrassed! She said we obviously liked each other as we were clearly flirting throughout the meal. We didn't say anything then but he walked me out to my car and said he would call me later. E: I called her later that Sunday and asked her to be my girlfriend. She said yes! For the first week we did not see each other much due to work schedules. That weekend, however, we went on our first date which was wonderful. I met Amie's parents for the first time soon after and we talked for a long time. I am continually impressed by Amie's love for the Lord and her kindness to those around her. The rest is history.
E: I was at work when the jewelry store called me. The ring had arrived early! I had planned on proposing that weekend with a day trip to our favorite park in Greensboro, NC. Instead I decided to propose that day after work. I called Amie who was getting out of work late. We had already decided the day before to meet for dessert. However, I was trying to make our date more romantic with dinner and then a walk in a local park. I suggested we eat at Chilli's that night like we sometimes do. While I was driving to meet her at her apartment, I called my family for support and prayers. I then picked up Amie and we talked about each other's day during the ride to the restaurant. A: Ethan called me just as I was finishing work and we talked about how we should get dinner as well as dessert. I drove to my home where he was ready to pick me up. During the drive and dinner I suspected nothing and we enjoyed just catching up. After dinner he asked if I wanted to go for a walk since it was such a lovely evening and I suggested the closest park to the area. On the drive he mentioned that we were losing sunlight, which I thought was slightly odd but didn't want to read into anything. We went to Bethabara park and we started to walk. E: I wanted to pick the right moment to propose. We ended up talking about how much we loved each other. I held her after we hugged but then let her go catch a firefly. After she caught one and released it, she started to turn away from me. At that point I kept holding onto her hand and then went down on one knee. I told her that I loved her and wanted to marry her. "Amie, will you marry me?" I asked. A: I was suspecting more while we were walking because Ethan kept his hand in his pocket. When we talked about how we loved each other, I wondered what was going on, but I turned away so I wasn't just waiting for it. He then stopped me, I turned and he and asked the question I'd been waiting to hear. I said, "Yes"!
