No, we have opted to have a small and intimate weekday wedding. Our family and friends who know us know that we aren't big party people. We felt like a weekday wedding with a smaller guest count felt more authentic to us. We plan on having a short ceremony, followed by a cocktail hour and a catered dinner. We are forgoing a large wedding, traditional wedding party, and a reception with a band/ DJ, and are focusing on our honeymoon instead. We completely understand if you aren't able to miss work, school, or other family commitments to travel for our Friday wedding.
The Capen House, located in Winter Park, FL, is a beautiful property that includes a museum, a historical home, and sculpture gardens on a lake. We both love the water and felt like this venue was perfect for us. Festivities will be indoors/outdoors, and you may have to walk in the grass, so please plan outfits accordingly. See theme and dress code tab for more details.
Florida has unpredictable weather year-round. It is usually a very mild and pretty time of year. However, plan to dress in layers as sometimes it is warm in the daytime and gets cooler in the evenings. If you are someone who has springtime allergies, I would recommend bringing allergy medications due to the nature of the ceremony being held outdoors in the garden.
