Ethan and Jamie knew each other for basically their entire lives. They grew up and learned about God in the same church, even before they could start walking. You'd think that they were childhood sweethearts, but that was not the case at all. Ethan was a very crazy vegetarian boy who barely listened to teachers, while Jamie was a quiet, well-behaved girl who intentionally stayed very far way from Ethan's antics from childhood to high school. In college, Ethan seemed to calm down (or maybe he hid his craziness better) and attended the college bible study group at church. A year later, Jamie attended the same group too. Though she didn't talk to him at first, she saw that he could be somewhat normal at times, to her great surprise. Over the college years, they became close friends in sharing profound conversations about life, Christianity, morality, and friendship, but neither of them were romantically interested in each other. As they spent more and more time with each other serving in Friday night ministries, Ethan's feelings began to change and eventually he decided it would be a good idea to ask Jamie to be his girlfriend. He took her to a nice hike and let a particularly surprised Jamie know how he felt about her. She had absolutely no idea Ethan felt this way and was completely blindsided by the entire ordeal. After a week of considering and praying, she decided that they were better as friends and politely declined. They remained friends in the following months with far less awkwardness than you would expect. After some months, she discovered to her surprise that she liked Ethan now, but she didn't know if his feelings had changed. Nevertheless, she talked to him more and hoped that he would get the hint. Anyways it all worked out, and they're getting married now. Praise God!
Ethan and Jamie got married on September 18th, 2020 in the midst of a global pandemic and California wildfires. They said their vows in a small ceremony and have spent almost an entire year married already! Now they are excited to celebrate their first year of marriage with their friends and family.
