We met at Ultrazone, a lasertag facility, in the heart of Alhambra. Nick was a manager and had been working at Ultrazone part-time and Lizzie was applying to work there. Nick hired her because she was the best candidate for the job. What started off as a coworker relationship turned into a friendship after Lizzie started bringing her bestfriends around to see the white boy that she thought was lost in Alhambra. After one unofficial date at Golf ‘N’ Stuff and a hilarious round of mini-putt and a snack run to Target, Nick knew there was something special about Lizzie that was worth more than just a friendship. Nick asked Lizzie out by using a phrase they both loved from Casper the friendly Ghost “can I keep you?” and after that Lizze has been his for over eight years.

The proposal took place in the heart of Lizzie’s favorite place Disneyland! The preparation began a year before the real proposal took place with the purchase of the ring. Lizzie was on Facebook one day and a ring company called Sapphire Studios had an ad pop up and Nick made note of a specific ring she had loved from the website. Nick even asked questions about her favorite stone, type of gold, and even the princess cut she loved to make the center stone sparkle. Fast forward to the day of the proposal Lizzie only thought she was having a pool getaway for her birthday weekend at the Grand Californian Hotel with Nick, some friends, her dad Leo, and her mom Sandra. Boy was she surprised when Lizzie found out we were actually going into Disneyland! As we entered the park family members and friends started showing up to join in on the event to come and after a couple rides we headed to the front of the castle to snap a group photo. Mary Poppins and her musical band decided to prolong the wait time for the photo and made Nick’s nerves skyrocket, but once the band cleared it was show time! The camera crew was filled in about what was about to happen and they made sure we would not be interrupted. So we snapped three photos. Two photos with smiles all around and the third with the entire group separating away from Lizzie and Nick on one knee waiting for Lizzie to turn around! With great happiness and tears welling in his eyes Nick, in front of the Magic Castle, professed his love and asked for Lizzie’s hand in marriage. She said YES!
