Well, it all began at a spoken poetry night at church in 2018. Luther laid his eyes on Rachel and told himself, “I need to get her number.” He introduced himself and was mesmerized but didn't get her number. A few weeks later, he attempted another way, which was to “slide in the DM’s on Instagram”. It was a short two-day conversation and again, Luther never received her number. So, he left it alone. Fast forward to 2020, Luther became friends with Patricia, Phidjie & Mac; & occasionally he would ask about Rachel. Until one day, he heard she was single. He was not too hasty to move, but he knew he had to. Thankfully for Luther, Rachel was also becoming close with Mac, Phidjie & Patricia. In October of 2020 at a birthday party, Luther strategically made his way around the room to Kompa with Rachel. Rachel noticed her friends hanging around this “Luther guy” often and she also noticed his interest in her. Rachel became more intentional with observing him at church and at small settings. The two would interact via Instagram stories, but nothing to talk about. Fast forward to December of 2020 at The Obi’s Wedding, Rachel and Patricia bolted on the dance floor as soon as they cued the Kompa music. Little did Rachel know, Luther was in the corner plotting and he took her by the hand and the two danced every Kompa song that night. The very next day, a conversation was sparked by Rachel inquiring about Luther's suit at the wedding. The two began talking every day after that & Rachel had been praying about this. Luther excitingly expressed to Rachel that he planned a date to the Sunflower garden, dinner, then a walk on the beach. Rachel agreed. Nevertheless, days passed by, and finally, the big date day was 2 days away... until Rachel called off the date. The two had not spoken for 3 weeks, in that time, Rachel continued to pray and it seemed as if her curiosity in Luther began to grow. How could it be? She was the one who called off the date! After the 3rd week, the two had an interaction via Instagram stories and they began chatting on Instagram for an entire day. Luther knew this was his shot, his last message to Rachel was "I'm not giving you any more information until you agree with going out with me, no expectations, just conversation." After being lost in conversation and taken away by laughter the entire night, Rachel truly enjoyed herself just as much as Luther did. The night came to an end but Luther did not let Rachel leave without planning the next date. One week after, Luther surprised Rachel with "I'll pick you up at 7PM, dress fancy" in a text. Needless to say, it was a great night! By the grace of God, the two will now become one flesh.
