When Emery moved to Texas in the Summer of 2016, she was disappointed to find out that the city's light pollution dimmed the brightness of the stars. After he had invited her to carpool to a church institute class, she expressed this concern to Vance. On the drive home, the instant connection was apparent and Vance quickly asked Emery on their first date by asking "Would you like to go somewhere where you CAN see the stars?" That very night they met, they traveled to a park outside of town, where they watched the stars and talked all night. And the next night. And the next night. The two quickly became the best of friends. Parks would soon be the couple's go-to for a romantic night out, and they will never forget the feelings that blossomed that late-June evening.

Emery left to serve a full-time, 18 month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints almost exactly one year after she met Vance in the Summer of 2017. The options were clear: Either he put a hold on dating for a year and a half, or he move on with his life and they revisit the possibility of a relationship after she came home. This was one of the toughest decisions they ever had to make. They knew they were good for each other, but they also knew Emery had a duty to fulfill. Each, individually, went to the Lord in fervent prayer to seek guidance. After a while of feeling as though there was no solid answer, Vance gained his confirmation. The night Emery opened her mission call, Vance realized he was truly in love, and that she was the one for him. So he waited.

Being separated for such an extended period of time with very minimal contact was not an easy task. Nearing the end of her mission, both Emery and Vance grew anxious for their reunion. Their friendship and love had only grown deeper. Emery's Mission President warned her that she would know within moments whether or not she would marry Vance. She came home January of 2019 and grew very nervous. Then it happened. Not once but multiple times, the Lord showed the couple of His approval. The decision to be married was a mutual, unified choice with each other and with God. It wasn't long before Emery asked "Hey, so is it official? Are we getting married?" Vance's reply: "Well, I guess we should start ring shopping." He would later officially propose on Carr Waterfall, while taking engagement photos.

With a love story that challenges all romance movies, Vance and Emery will be united lawfully and sealed by God for eternity May 25th, 2019. Three years after that initial night. After eighteen months of bridled passion. Dreams and hopes finally becoming a reality. This is only the very start of their forever adventure, but no matter the trial or sickness, heartbreak and pain, they will always be able to say "I am eternally yours"
