We met for the very first time at a scholarship event the spring before our first year at Baylor University. As perfectly Baylor as it were, we attended the same Line Camp week that summer and started talking after returning home. We got to know more about each other that entire summer, and we began dating in September of our freshman year! A true Baylor love story!
In classic Burns fashion, proposing to Esther had to be somewhat of a production. Esther was under the impression that my family was visiting us in Waco to celebrate my birthday and for my brother and sister-in-law to take my senior pictures. We did actually take my senior pictures, and Esther joined us for some couple-shots. But after taking some on campus, my sibling photographers put on a great act of "convincing" me to take some more pictures at Cameron Park. Esther and I headed to Lovers Leap at Cameron Park: the spot where we first started dating freshman year and where I ultimately asked Esther to marry me.
Dallas is our home for the near future! Carter is working full-time at Fidelity Investments, and Esther is working full-time doing cancer research at UT Southwestern Medical Center. We both fully believe in a Matthew 6:33 marriage - to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness - and that is our ultimate goal in this marriage. We are excited to write this next chapter of our lives together and to honor God through it!
