We’re getting married!

Essie and Michael lived three doors down from each other in their apartment building in Alexandria, VA. They didn’t know each other until Rebekah, Essie’s sister, ran into Michael in the elevator. Seeing the handcuffs on his bag, Rebekah assumed he was a cop and asked to pass his information to Essie, who was looking at going into law enforcement after graduate school. Rebekah was so excited to help Essie make a connection in her career field, adding “and I didn’t see a ring on his finger!” Michael and Essie met to discuss Michael’s career at MPD, and what should have been a 30 minute conversation turned into 3 hours. The two parted ways until they randomly bumped into each other when Essie was out walking her dogs around Alexandria. Michael, who usually never walks to do errands, took this as a sign and asked to walk with her the rest of the way. The two then became friends over the next year, finding enjoyment in wine, scary movies, and cooking together. Their friendship turned into more, with their first date being at a Washington Nats game. Their jokes, chemistry, and easy conversation led the people in the seats ahead of them to believe they were married. Since then, Essie and Michael have enjoyed years of adventures, laughs, and memories, from Michael buying his first house to Essie’s police academy graduation. Michael attributes their meeting to “a God-thing”, as too many coincidences fell into place to allow their paths to cross.
