Vanessa and Tim met in 2018 when she moved to Kingman, Arizona from Chaparral, New Mexico after graduating college. Vanessa started working at the local newspaper where she became friends with her editor Claire. Claire's boyfriend, Shane, worked at the local school district with Tim. Vanessa, Tim, Claire and Shane would hang out quite often and that's where Vanessa and Tim started to like each other. In Feb. 2019, Tim asked Vanessa out to lunch for sushi. Vanessa thought this was lunch with a friend and didn't think it was a date. Two hours into lunch, Vanessa realized it was a date. After that they went out every week until they finally made it official to become boyfriend and girlfriend. Four years later, and after Vanessa kept bugging him to propose, he finally got down on one knee and asked the big question.
