On a Thursday afternoon, Emily was sitting at her desk near the ER check in window. Sam wandered up to the window because, in usual Sam fashion, his ID badge was broken, so he needed someone to let him in so he could start his shift! When Emily saw him, she instantly knew she wanted to get to know him. He was let into the office area, rounded the corner, and Emily said "HI!" If you know Emily personally, it is no surprise that she'd be the one to introduce herself first!

In the ER, Sam and Emily had separate work areas since Sam was a nurse and Emily was admin. If Sam didn't have a reason to go to the front office area, he would stay in the back where the patients were. Two weeks after they met, Sam wandered up to the admin staff kitchen and started rummaging through the fridge. Before he walked away with a Hillshire snack pack, Emily asked if that was even his to take. He laughed, happily said no and ran away. Emily found him on teams and sent him a message calling him a thief. They haven't stopped talking since that day :)

Sam and Emily went out for dinner at Bamboo Sushi in Cedar Hills neighborhood. They both share a mutual love for sushi! After dinner they went next door to Moberi to get some smoothies. After they finished their smoothies, they walked around the outdoor plaza looking at the restaurants and stores that were opening soon, but they were really just stalling because they didn't want the night to end.

Summer of 2024 flew by for Sam and Emily. Between all the traveling and get togethers, they did not make much time to do any outdoor activities. In August 2024, Emily came up with the idea to commemorate the end of summer by having a picnic and visiting Peninsula Park in Portland as neither have been there before. Little did Emily know, Sam began working behind the scenes to turn this picnic into the proposal day! Sam thought this would be the perfect opportunity to surprise Emily. After a month and a half of preparation, Sam lead Emily through the rose garden where they arrived at heart shaped sign that read "Will You Marry Me?" Emily threw her sunglasses into the bushes and tears streamed down her face. Sam got down on one knee, and asked the big question!!!! Emily said YES!
