Follow the signs for the Day Use parking area. If its time for lunch, step into the Yosemite Village Grill for a juicy burger or the Village Store deli for a tasty sandwich. We suggest taking it to-go and making a short walk to Lower Yosemite Falls. There, you can enjoy your lunch while you gaze at the magnificent 2,425 foot waterfall. From the lower fall, head out on the Valley Loop trail and meander your way through the valley enjoying views of the Half Dome, El Capitan and Yosemite Falls from different angles. In addition, enjoy lush meadows, wildflowers and a possible deer sighting.
This is one of the best day hikes in Yosemite Valley, especially if it's your first time visiting the park. The Mist Trail takes you up close to two of the most spectacular waterfalls in the park, Vernal and Nevada Falls. The most exciting part of this hike is the granite staircase beyond the Vernal Fall Footbridge to the top of Vernal Fall. If you are hiking this trail in the spring or early summer, you will get wet from the spray of the waterfall so you will definitely want to bring hiking shoes with good traction and a poncho.
