We were roommates before we got together! When we first moved to Chicago as part of the Lutheran Volunteer Corps, we lived in the same house with five other people who were all working at various arts and social justice nonprofits. We started as good friends, but soon realized we were compatible in every way!
Our first date, six months into our friendship and roommate situation, was to Lula Cafe in Logan Square, followed by a show by a local band at The Burlington. We laughed the entire time, and there has never been a more effortless, adventuresome first date. The rest has been history!
Fast forward to just-under five years later, Eryn is sent on some suspicious errands that took her away from the small apartment we now share in Chicago. When she came home, there were a million candles everywhere, pictures of us, and Eleni in a suit, down on one knee. She said yes, of course, and we proceeded to eat a fabulous dinner Eleni prepared and call our families. Then, we went next door to Eryn's brother John and his fiancee Becca's apartment to celebrate with them (and Sophie, Eryn's cousin).
