In October 2018, at Washington State University, Casey and Eryn met for the first time through mutual family and friends, Lisa and Linda. The meeting wasn’t meant to be memorable—it was simply to help arrange an RV parking spot for Casey’s Aunt Lisa. A few texts were exchanged afterward, polite and practical, and then life moved on. They both forgot about each other. Months later, fate quietly stepped back in. Linda invited Lisa to spend Memorial Weekend at the Duckabush, where Eryn’s family has property along the river. Lisa asked Casey to come along for the trip in May of 2019. What started as a casual weekend getaway became the turning point neither of them could have predicted. At one point during the weekend, Casey asked Eryn if she wanted to hop on the quad with him. When they got to a top of a ridge, Casey paused and asked the question that would become a sweet piece of their story: “Do you trust me?” She climbed on anyway. That ride changed everything. They laughed easily, talked effortlessly, and felt an unexpected comfort with one another. By July of 2019, they officially started dating. Over the next year, they made the most of every break and weekend, finding time to be together whenever they could. In 2021, after Eryn graduated, she began teaching in Bonney Lake and moved in with Casey and Grandpa Bob. Life began to look more like a shared future. In 2023, they moved next door, settling into daily routines, shared spaces, and the quiet joy of everyday life together. Through big changes and challenges, they stood side by side, always choosing each other. As their story unfolded, they often realized how many times their paths had unknowingly crossed long before they ever met. It felt less like chance and more like a story that had always been unfolding. They traveled to new places, kept their love for WSU football alive with season tickets, tried new foods, and explored the world hand in hand. Then, on Memorial Weekend in May 2024, Casey brought their story full circle. In the exact spot where he had once asked if she trusted his driving, he asked a much bigger question. She trusted him then. She trusts him now. And they are so excited to celebrate this next chapter of life together, surrounded by all the people who have been part of their story from the very beginning.
