FAQs

Question

What's the best way to get to town from the airport?

Answer

New York's major airports are both located in Queens. So its a little ways before you really get into Manhattan -the city. For travel from the airport, a cab or uber is probably the easiest/smoothest way but at a cost with that distance. The subway options aren't bad but they can take significantly longer. JFK Airport: Subway can get you anywhere or Long Island Railroad that can take you directly into Penn Station. Newark airport: there is a bus option that will bring you right into Port Authority or NJ Transit brings you to Penn Station. Both accessible right at the airport. *Port Authority Bus Terminal and Penn Station are both in mid-town Manhattan, not far from Times Square. LGA Airport: M60 Bus is a very direct transport but takes you into Harlem before you then connect to subway for downtown.

Question

MTA Subway vs Uber

Answer

The subway is often the fastest way to get around the city if you aren't within walking distance. But with walking there is so much to see and do and stumble. Cars are always an option but can add up quickly. MTA offers multiple apps and a website that gives you real time updates for when any train or bus will arrive to a stop. Using Maps to get directions offers an option that will show you the route using the subway (train).

Question

How Much is a Ride?

Answer

The entire MTA system accepts tap to pay. So Apple Pay and Google Pay are both accepted. There is an Omny app that can be used to pay for public transit but it isn't necessary to download. Each time you enter the subway, it costs $3.00. If you have to switch trains, you don't have to pay again unless you leave the subway and re-enter. It also costs $3.00 to ride the bus. If you aren't going to walk, the bus is the most direct way to get across town (Eastside to Westside). The wedding venue and Times Sq are on the West Side. Going to Brooklyn or Queens can take at least 30 minutes if not longer from midtown but worth the adventure if you're up to it. Cabs also take tap pay or cash. There are several apps to use, such as Lyft, Uber, and Curb that can be used to call cars. Be sure to confirm your license plate!

Question

What's the best deal?

Answer

Although its convenient, any souvenirs that are being sold in Times Square can also be purchased in China Town for less. Just food for thought. Speaking of food. As we all know New York has some of the best but again mid town (where Times Sq is) isn't always the best place to find the best options or quality food. For any specific food types feel free to message us and we can point you in a direction. For certain foods like burgers or a fun NYC experience, Times Square is fine. There are also some hidden gems in mid town that we can tell you about.

Question

Will there be travel involved for the wedding and reception?

Answer

No. The wedding, cocktail hour and reception all take place in the same location.

Question

What's there to do?

Answer

We are thrilled to have you coming all this way just for us. But we definitely want you to experience the city too. New York is a walking city. Bring comfortable shoes. There is much to see and the majority of it involves shopping, food and one of a kind sights like Central Park. It can take 30 minutes to get all the way downtown or uptown from midtown. That being said, most of anything you can think of, is probably around to do. All you have to do is ask. Everything from live music, specialized stores, Museums of all kinds, Bars hidden in laundry mats, bank vaults or barber shops and several sprawling parks in each part of town. Catch a Broadway show or go to another borough like the Bronx for the Zoo and authentic Italian on Arthur Avenue.

Question

Do I need tickets and reservations?

Answer

It is highly recommended to make dinner reservations to avoid a long or unexpected wait. It also is best to buy most tickets in advance for many experiences. However, when it comes to Broadway shows, you can often find last minute deals at the box office or score lottery or rush tickets online. Sites include: https://rush.telecharge.com/ https://broadwaydirect.com/ or todaytix There is also an app called Theatr App where you can buy last minute tickets to shows that people were no longer able to attend.
