Erin's Version... On September 12th, 2013, Jake and I crossed paths for the very first time in the elevator going up to the cafeteria at St. Olaf College. We briefly chatted and went on our way. It took us a few more weeks until we ran into each other again, but once we did everything else changed. We talked for hours at a party not even realizing the whole house had cleared out. A few days later I ran into him in the common area of Rolvaag library and I knew this was the guy for me. We then had our first real date in the "Cage" (St. Olaf's café) and from that point on we've been inseparable. He quickly became my best friend, favorite companion, and love of my life. 8 years in the making and we will be married! Jake's Version... Exactly 8 years before our wedding date (coincidence? I think not!) Erin and I by chance took a short elevator ride together to the top floor in St. Olaf's main commons building. She clearly had made an impact on me as I found myself thinking about her into the evening. Luckily for me, I must have made some sort of impact on her too as out of the blue I received a "friend request" from her on Facebook that night (this was a bigger deal back in 2013). From then on it we seemed to cross paths in some way almost everyday. I finally got the nerves to chat with her at a party which turned into hours of conversation. The next couple of months we were inseparable and I knew our relationship was different than anything I had experienced before. Fast forward 8 years and we're still inseparable. We adopted a dog, bought our first home, and have traveled the world as a duo. I am so happy to be able to make our duo "official" and blessed to be able to call Erin my fiancé and future wife.
We recently bought our first home back in May of 2019. With a fresh new home, we of course wanted to plan a house warming party for family and friends! Little did Erin know that this "house warming party" was going to have much more meaning to it than she could have imagined. While celebrating the new home with family and friends from near and far, Jake gathered the entire group together for a toast. After a few nice words, he proceeded to drop down on one knee to propose. With tears of happiness Erin said YES!
