It was Labor Day weekend in 2013 and I was out with my group of my friends at a local bar. I had several drinks and noticed a co-worker (Justin H.) so I walked over and said hello. He immediately introduced me to his fiance, Erin, where we began to have a conversation. Before I knew it, a large man grabbed me by both arms, picked me up, and removed me from the conversation. I was very caught off-guard and I had no idea what was happening. The bar was extremely crowded and this man put me down and shouted, "You're the prettiest girl I have ever seen, I am going to take you on a date!" - "Excuse me!" I said back. The look on his face realized that this action was not romantic and he immediately began apologizing. "I'm really sorry! Let me start over... My name is Bill and I think you are beautiful. I would love the opportunity to take you on a date." As flattered as I was by the gesture, I responded with a "Thank you," and mentioned I needed to find my friends and I would be right back. Well... I did not come back. The following Tuesday, I received a lengthy Facebook message from my co-worker, Justin, who sent a very apologetic message on behalf of Bill. He encouraged me to give Bill a second chance and to add him on Facebook. A few hours later, I received a friend request from Bill who asked to grab a drink a few days later at Map Room. The rest is history.
In August 2020, I flew into Miami where Bill had been a few days already. Leading up to the trip, we spoke daily and the night before, Bill was silent. "Text me when you land and don't miss your flight!" I landed around 8:30 am, texted, and asked if Bill would meet me at the airport. "No, I'm running around this morning. I told the concierge you'll be checking in. Just come up to the room!" Not feeling very welcomed, I checked in and carried my own bags to the room. Annoyed that Bill was avoiding me, I knocked on the door. Bill greeted me with a kiss and invited me to check out the view from the balcony. I walked to the balcony and saw roses everywhere, a bottle of champagne and as I turned around, Bill was on one knee.
