Tyler and Erin’s love story began after a road trip to Banff. But first, rewind for a second. They actually "dated" in the 8th grade, so they had to rely on their bikes or moms to see each other. As you might imagine their young love didn't last long and they went separate ways for most of high school and college. After 5 years, Tyler decided to reach out to Erin. She’d recently gone on a trip to Israel which sparked Tyler's curiosity to reach out. Because of God’s perfect timing and after they reconnected, they realized they had the same road trip on their bucket lists for that summer, the trip was planned. Even though they hadn’t spoken in years, Erin went out on a limb and invited Tyler to join in on her week-long cross-country road trip to which he replied “I’m in!” They hit it off on the trip, they went on their first date once they got back and soon after they became official on August 25th 2018.
Two years and three road trips later, it was time to propose. The second stop of this trip was in the North Cascades National Park, where Tyler had planned to ask. Erin had been thrown off by friends on the trip and didn’t think Tyler was going to pop the question. On the first hike in the Cascades, there was the most picturesque overhang with a beautiful view of the lake below. At this point in the hike, Erin was hangry and after some (light) complaining, she left the scenic view to eat with the rest of the group. Little did she know Tyler was planning to propose at that spot seconds before she walked away. Then it took some planning with Tyler and the boys, on how to get Erin back out to the overview. After making a game plan the boys rejoined the girls for lunch, Tyler pulled Erin aside and began the proposal. Erin thought “oh my gosh, this is it!” Then, Tyler changed course and Erin was confused. Tyler somehow got Erin to go back to the overview where he got down on one knee and asked Erin to be his wife. Erin said yes and “we’re getting heckin’ married” and they celebrated with all of their friends who were on the trip. They were fortunate to have cell service to call their family and friends back at home to let them know the news! That night they sat around the fire eating ice cream and had a formal celebration with more family and friends when they got home. Erin and Tyler feel so blessed to have shared their special moment with friends and to have people to come home to that wanted to celebrate them too!
