Some close friends of ours were hosting a crawfish boil, and if you know anything about either of us, that is just not something we turn down. She walked in, I called "Dibs" and mustered up the courage to talk to her. After she told me she had just finished art school, I had a hard time hearing anyone else at the party. We talked all night and the rest… Well you'll have to come to Mexico to find out!
It's fitting that I write this now during the Thanksgiving holiday, because it was 2 years ago at Thanksgiving that I asked Roger and Karen Dora for their permission to marry Erin. But in all sincerity I knew that she was the one for me way before that. Roger and Karen gave me their blessing and I was thrilled. I asked Erin on a date-night picnic at our favorite place on the lake. As the sun set, I took a knee, and she said yes. We popped champagne and danced to Gregory Alan Isakov while the city lights came on and the sail boats came in. It was a perfect unforgettable evening.
When it came to deciding what our wedding would be like, we wanted to make sure it felt like us. We believe we would not be who we are without all the amazing people that have nurtured, guided, and loved us along the way. And we decided ALL of those people needed a vacation. A vacation where we can let go of our worries, enjoy being together in one place, and celebrate for days on end. So when looking for a location, it turns out the pristine white beaches of Mexico are a great place to do just that.
