Wedding Update

6/23/20

Invites have gone out and we are anxiously awaiting RSVP's! We are almost a month out! We wanted to let you all know that we had a meeting with our venue yesterday. It went extremely well! We want to assure you that our wedding will happen and we will maintain everyone's safety in doing so. Please be aware we will provide the venue with your phone number for tracing purposes as an additional safety measure if needed. The only restriction we still need to work out is the food service portion of the reception since everything else will take place in an outdoor setting. There may be some changes to the format or layout of dinner, but we are hoping that indoor dining will be at least 50% capacity by then. All CDC rules will be followed, but because it's a private estate, which is extremely beneficial to us, they have their own regulations that differ from regular restaurants. For instance, no one except employees and our wedding guests can enter the property for the entire day. No other event is taking place on that day. All staff will wear masks, complete a survey and have their temperature taken the day of the wedding. Guests will not be required to wear masks, but obviously can if they choose to. Lastly, for any hotel guests, everything is a go there as well. We are counting down the days and can't wait to celebrate with everyone! We truly appreciate your understanding during this time. Think happy thoughts. Stay safe and we'll see you soon!

How We Met

Starland Ballroom, Sayerville, NJ April 6, 2018

It was a Friday night and I, Erin, was having a girl’s night out with my good friend and bridesmaid, Amie, to see a country concert, while Ryan (who I had never met before) had his own double date night. Our paths crossed at the bar just before Walker Hayes opened for Kelsea Ballerini. I was immediately drawn to his eyes and Ryan was drawn to my smile or so he says. I wanted to stop and talk to him so I vividly recall squeezing Amie’s hand to signal I wanted to slow down and talk to a guy. Before I knew it she was talking to him! Little did I know, Amie knew Ryan from Moravian so she conveniently introduced the two of us. I couldn’t believe he went to the same school as us and played soccer, but never met him! How bizarre?! After briefly reminiscing about the good ole days, I come to find out that not only have Ryan and I been to the same college parties and have several mutual friends, but that he actually grew up with one of my best friends, Emily, who is also a bridesmaid. We then took a shot at the bar… of fireball, obviously, and toasted the greyhounds. Ryan and I talked and sang the entire night while Amie, being the best wing woman ever, entertained Ryan's date! LOL! We truly hit it off and had an immediate connection. I think it is safe to say that my night went better than Ryan's date. We had a great time and didn’t want the night to end. Ryan got my number, I "called dibs" in our first text exchange and the rest is history!

The Proposal

Columbia Square, Savannah, GA September 10, 2019

Last winter, Erin, her mother, Pat, her sister, Lauren and I, Ryan, decided we'd go on a vacation down south in September to celebrate Pat’s birthday before Erin went back to school. Shortly thereafter, I realized it would be ideal to propose then in Savannah, GA, a place neither of us had ever been. I knew it was going to be perfect, especially because it has a beautiful, historic, southern country vibe that both of us love. A few months later, with Lauren’s help, I designed what I hoped would be Erin’s dream engagement ring. I loved it and knew she would, too. Summer was soon coming to an end. Once we got to Savannah, I just had to pick the perfect place to get down on one knee. The morning of the big day, Erin, Pat, Lauren and I went on a historic trolley tour. Being a typical tourist, I grabbed a map to help me pick out the special spot. This task was easy as Erin was too busy snapping pictures to even realize what I was doing. After seeing all the stops on the tour, I was confident Columbia Square was where I should ask the love of my life to marry me. Later that day, Lauren helped again by getting everyone back to the park to take a few more pictures before dinner. Easy enough as Erin is obsessed with pictures. Once we got there, Pat and Lauren were instructed to wander off and hide behind the trees to document the proposal. Just moments before I asked the most important question of my life, I felt pure excitement. I couldn't believe this day and this moment was here, finally! I got her father's permission, made a gorgeous ring and found the perfect place to propose and ask my girlfriend to become my fiancé and marry me. Erin was shocked and speechless, but was able to confidently say YES! We laughed and cried and enjoyed the happiest moment of our lives, together. It was truly a perfect proposal and we are both so happy to be engaged!
