Travel and Places to Stay

Flight options and places to stay for our out-of-town guests! Madeline Island does not have large hotels but they have plenty of rental homes, lodging, and an inn! We encourage you to stay on the island so you don't have to take the ferry too many times. We also recommend flying into Minneapolis or Duluth and will share things to do during your drive to Madeline Island!

Travel Note

Places to Stay on Madeline Island

Here is a compilation of places to stay on the island! It includes vacation rentals, inns, camping, and cabins! Reach out with any questions.

Flight

Duluth Airport

If you fly into Duluth, we recommend exploring the city a bit before making the 1.5 hour drive to Bayfield to catch the ferry to Madeline Island! We will be updating the site with places to eat, things to see, and hikes!

Flight

Minneapolis Airport

If you fly into Minneapolis we recommend breaking up the 4 hour drive by stopping in Duluth for lunch or dinner! We highly recommend Northern Waters Smokehaus for amazing smoked meats and delicious sandwiches. There are vegetarian options as well.
