We were both flying home for Christmas in 2009. Rich was flying home but there were no good flights to Palm Beach so he was flying through Fort Lauderdale. Erin was flying home to see the whole crew in Fort Lauderdale. We boarded a very busy and packed flight. Hans, our flight attendant, was more than annoyed by all of the holiday travelers. He had a red scarf that he kept whipping over his shoulder as he paraded up and down the aisles directing everyone that no you cannot fit that in the overhead. We were both chuckling. As we sat on the run way, a fellow passenger got up to use the bathroom. Hans, in his Miami accent, got on the speaker and shouted at the man, "Sir, sir, SIR- sentiate aqui!" We both burst out laughing. That was the hook! We started rehashing the hilarity over the aisle. We ended up talking the whole 3 hour flight. At the end, Erin for the first time ever, gave Rich number and said call me (he worked in the same neighborhood she lived in). By the time I got to baggage claim, he had already texted me. The rest is history...
