We met during the summer of 2011. We were both participating in summer athletic conditioning. We were immediately interested in one another. As the school year carried on, we had lockers next to each other. Matt had a crush on me and it was OBVIOUS. So naturally, I avoided my locker because he made me nervous. As time passed, we parted ways to carry on with our college dreams. In September of 2020, I decided to message him on Instagram about his favorite thing... skydiving. Him being in North Carolina and me in Florida, we both waited an entire month to go on our first date. From that first date to today, we knew we wanted to be together forever.
We were headed to Virginia after a nice trip to see family in New Jersey. We were casually driving down the road when Matt needed a bathroom stop. So, off the interstate we go to find a bathroom. All of a sudden we end up at the Naval Academy, right by the seawall. The seawall is a special place to Matt because it's where he spent many hours rowing with his teammates up and down the severn. The seawall has a gorgeous view of the campus and houses along the severn. I took a walk while Matt was in the bathroom to take in the breath taking view, not even questioning why or how we ended there. I turned around and there Matt was, down on one knee. And well... you guys know the rest!
