Question

How do I get to Sequim, WA?

Answer

- Closest Airport: SEA – Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (distance – 66.4 miles or 2ish hours from Sequim) - Car rental is available at SeaTac Airport after you arrive in Seattle. Driving from Seattle to Sequim allows you to go at your own pace and have more freedom throughout the wedding weekend in general. 1. Here’s a mildly scenic driving route: Hop on I-5 to WA-16 W and eventually to US 101 N that you’ll follow all the way to Sequim. By driving all the way down through Tacoma, you’ll get the opportunity to cross the impressive Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Gig Harbor is a quaint place to check out with a beautiful little downtown right on the water. Just 40 minutes outside of Sequim and on the route is Fat Smitty’s if you’re looking for a classic Diner meal before you arrive. 2. Bus from Seattle to Sequim - Greyhound (3 buses a day) Amtrak (2 buses a day) and Dungeness Line (Olympic) (one bus per day) all provide direct drives to Sequim. 3 hours in total for a reasonable price. 3. Seattle to Sequim Transit Center - Take the ferry from Seattle across the Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island. This breaks up the drive and Bainbridge has a lot of local specialty shops and eats. iIf you brought a rental car onto the ferry, you’ll drive Highway 3 N to Highway 104 across the Hood Canal Bridge then on to US 101 and Sequim. Otherwise if you’re catching a bus from Bainbridge Ferry terminal, it’s an hour and a half bus ride to Sequim Transit Center. This route takes about the same amount of time as the straight drive around the sound but requires less driving. The ferry costs $21 for a standard vehicle each way. - Ferry: https://wsdot.wa.gov/travel/washington-state-ferries - Bus: https://www.clallamtransit.com/route123

Question

What’s the dress code on the Wedding Day?

Answer

Semi- formal for the Ceremony & Dinner. Have fun with it and be colorful if you please! Although we will not be hiking for the wedding day, we will be outdoors on nature trails throughout the weekend so you’ll probably want some comfortable clothes and shoes! Be sure to check the weather out before packing. Temperatures should be pretty moderate during the day and cooler in the evening but it rains a lot. Emergency rain ponchos are great and waterproof/quick dry stuff is always handy!

Question

Is there a gift registry?

Answer

No. We’ve decided to forgo the registry since we are having the wedding away from home. We understand the extra cost involved with having a destination wedding. For those who would like to give a gift, we have decided to create a fund for some necessary renovations on our 110 year old home!

Question

What else is there to do in the area?

Answer

We set up a few explorative activities that represent the area and hopefully feel accessible to everyone as a part of the wedding weekend (see itinerary). Of course there is no obligation to attend any of the extra events outside of the wedding day. We want everyone have their own experience. With the area being so vast, there’s much to see! Here are some ways to consider spending your free time while on the Olympic Peninsula: HIKES/NATURE: - Madison Falls just past Port Angeles is an easily accessed waterfall in the area - Bike, hike or rent kayaks along Ediz Hook in Port Angeles (30 minute drive) - The Olympic Discovery Trail spans 135 miles between Port Townsend and La Push on the Pacific Coast. You can rent bikes and see everything from views of snow capped peaks, the ocean, lakes and forests. - Drive up Hurricane Ridge or take Clallam Transit’s Shuttle Bus and leave your car behind and for $1 each way for adults. There are three trips daily, seven days a week, up the mountain and back. Hurricane Ridge known for its incredible 360-degree views. On a clear day you can see the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Mt. Baker and Vancouver Island, Canada in the distance. It’s also one of the most popular vantage points in Olympic National Park so it can get busy. - The Puget Sound Express offers whale watching tours out of Port Angeles for a half day tour that takes you near Victoria B.C. https://www.pugetsoundexpress.com It’s around $90 but we’ve read that it’s worthwhile! - Audubon River Center has bird walks every Wednesday morning at Railroad Bridge Park on the Dungeness River for you tender souls. FOOD/DRINK: - There are a few wineries nearby! Camaraderie Cellars & Harbinger Winery - Alder Wood Bistro and Wood-Pizza has top reviews - Wild Goodness Brews -n- Bites (Beer and small plates) - Oak Table Cafe (Breakfast all day) - Salty Girls Seafood Co. -The goat & The radish (charcuterie, sandwiches & crepes)
