We recommend hiking Old Cove Landing Trail to Ohlone Bluff Trail. A flat loop trail that offers incredible views of the Pacific Ocean. You may see harbor seals laying out in the coves. You can park just off the entrance to Wilder Ranch, on Cabrillo Highway (Highway 1), to avoid the $10 parking fee.
Plenty to eat, drink, and explore in Capitola - a charming beach town know for it's colorful seaside houses. Everything is within walking distance once you're in town. Important Parking Note! There are short-term spaces on the streets for a three-hour maximum. For longer term parking, there is a lot on Cliff Drive west of the Village or in the large Beach & Village lots. Unfortunately, there is a parking attendant that takes their duties seriously. Be sure to keep track of the meter!
One of Santa Cruz's great beaches! Here you can explore tide pools and look for marine wildlife - shorebirds, seals, sea otters, and whales. Be sure to check out the Monarch Butterfly Natural Preserve! The monarchs typically arrive mid-October, you can see the butterflies congregating to relax and enjoy the seaside weather until they migrate in Spring.
Great course located nearby the Chaminade Resort. Located in the foothills of the Santa Cruz mountains, offers views of the forests and ocean. It is recommended to book online to reserve a spot. For non-golfers, there is a restaurant and lounge as well as several trails to explore.
