The reception venue has changed to the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens on Essen Lane, about a ten minute drive from the church (this is different from what is printed on the invitations). There is plenty of parking there. The best destination to give to Google Maps or similar is "Burden Museum & Gardens"
You can fly into either Baton Rouge (BTR) or New Orleans (MSY). The Baton Rouge airport has few direct flights, so you’ll most likely connect through Charlotte, Houston, or Atlanta. Flying into New Orleans is typically cheaper, but not always. New Orleans is about an hour’s drive away from Baton Rouge, so we recommend renting a car at the airport. If flying into BTR, you can either rent a car or use Uber to get around town.
Semi-formal. The reception venue is outdoors, so ladies should avoid spike heels. December in Baton Rouge could be 30°F or 80°F, so it's a good idea to check the weather when you're packing. There will be propane heaters and a fire if the weather is cold.
The ceremony and reception will be held on December 12, 2020. While we hope to see you there, please do what you feel is best for you and your family. We will be following the recommendations set by the state of Louisiana and by the venues we use. Please note that the reception will now be held at the LSU AgCenter Botanic Gardens.
We will follow the restrictions set by the state of Louisiana and by the venues we use. Since it is a large church, St. Aloysius Catholic Church will be able to accommodate minimum 6-foot distancing for any parties who wish to remain physically distanced from others. The LSU AgCenter Botanic Garden is a part-indoor, part-outdoor venue with an outdoor covered pavilion space that we will be using. The plan is for most of the tables to be set up outdoors, weather permitting. Given the challenges of attending an event with many guests, it may be difficult to remain 6 feet distance from others with perfect consistency. Please reach out to us directly if you have specific concerns.
While we hope that is not going to be the case, we will get in contact with those attending if it becomes an issue. Once we have received all RSVPs, we will also have a better idea of the size group planning to attend and can refine our plans accordingly.
