Like many modern love stories, ours began online. Little did we know though, our story was actually one of orbits on a collision path and many invisible strings linking our paths together. Going back to young childhood, Jack attended summer camps at The Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, which is where Erin would later attend club volleyball tryouts in high school. Also as children, we were both unknowingly called the same nickname: "Boo-Boo"; Jack's after Yogi Bear's sidekick and Erin's after her tendancy for many small injuries. For college, Erin attended Georgia Tech, where she was friends of friends of one of Jack's best friends. Jack attended Florida State, where he and Erin's younger brother were both on campus for two years. In 2018, Georgia Tech hosted the rapper, Lil' Dickie, for their Homecoming concert. Erin, still a student, attended the concert with her roommates and Jack, a guest of one of his best friends, also attended the concert, less than 100 feet from Erin! Our orbits finally collided in August 2024 when we matched on Hinge. After quickly bonding over our love of silly voices and our travel-heavy jobs, spending hours talking about anything and everything at our first date, and surviving our first football game cheering for opposing teams the very next day, we both knew there was no turning back. In each other, we found the matching weird we were looking for and a true soulmate!

May 28th often falls on or around Memorial Day, but for Jack and Erin, it is so much more than a holiday weekend! On May 28, 1988, John Jr. and Lara Hrinko, Jack's parents, were married in Pensacola, FL! One year later, on May 28, 1989, Curt and Debbie Gwaltney, Erin's parents, were married in Johnson City, TN! Our parents have been and continue to be beautiful examples of a love that grows with age, overcomes all obstacles, and never fails. We couldn't think of a better way to honor the love we both witnessed growing up and to link our families together forever.
