Erin and Hugh both attended Green Bay East High and participated in Drama Club. If you had told either of them that one day they'd be engaged, you'd get some pretty strange looks. But then again, Hugh's backstage antics always did have a strange effect on Erin...

After a tour of Iraq, Hugh moved to Milwaukee to pursue grad school. He looked Erin up on Facebook, and they thought it would be fun to catch up over a drink at Von Trier. Little did they know that a Facebook message would lead to an apartment, then a house, then a ring.

A mutual love of Lake Michigan is central to Erin and Hugh's relationship, so it makes sense that's where the proposal would happen. Hugh pretended to find a particularly lovely piece of beach glass, but then knelt down in the sand. A barefoot and slightly seaweed-covered Erin promptly agreed.
