We both grew up in the Tampa area, we both went to the University of Florida (Go Gators!), we both studied accounting, and we both started our careers at Deloitte. However, we never would have met if it hadn't been for Hinge in early 2020. Griffin had been a seasoned pro with the apps, but I had never been on a date with someone met online. Griffin and I match, and he immediately sent a message saying, "I know this is a bit forward, but can we get a drink sometime?" I say yes, naively forgetting that I am encountering my first big busy season at work. So I reschedule once, then twice, before we finally get drinks on February 13, 2020 (it was very important to not have a first date on Valentine's Day). Luckily, Griffin had just left public accounting, or he may not have been so gracious about my rescheduling (and showing up about 30 minutes late the day of). Drinks turn into dinner the following week, and suddenly we're seeing each other whenever my crazy work schedule allows (sometimes for only a couple of hours a week). When COVID lockdowns arrived, it was a no brainer. I lived alone, and Griffin only had one roommate, so we took the calculated risk and continued to see each other. This is where our relationship almost felt out of order. Instead of the typical early dating days of dinners out and meeting friends, we saw only each other, and our dates consisted of takeout (or Griffin's amazing cooking) and streaming movies. When lockdowns eased, we brought friends and family into our bubble, and things felt right. What started as my friends or his friends quickly became our friends. Our lives and relationship further evolved when we adopted our sweet rescue pup Claire in March 2021. It's a good thing she was cute, because she was a total menace. She brought chaos to our otherwise calm lives, but also a ton of joy and laughter. That summer, we each joined in on each other's family vacations, and we got a glimpse of what joining the other's family would feel like. By summer 2022, it made zero sense for me to pay rent when I basically lived at Griffin's condo, so we took the next step and I moved in. In February 2023, under the pretense of Griffin's 30th birthday, we planned a trip to a cabin in Blue Ridge with some friends. I was so surprised by Griffin's proposal that my nails weren't even painted, but it was so special to share that moment just the two of us. We are so excited to start this next chapter together as husband and wife. Our story wasn't created in a vacuum, so we are grateful to both of our parents for modeling long and happy marriages. To our families, thank you for loving us well and supporting us every step of the way. To our friends, thank you for the joy, support, and fun you bring to our lives. We can't wait to celebrate with you all, and we appreciate the time, energy, and travel you've put in to witness our big day.
