Clemens and Erin met at a medical physics conference in Breckenridge, CO. Clemens (who loved visiting NYC) offered to take her out on his “next trip” into the city. When he offered to take the subway across town to pick her up she realized this was perhaps more than a drink with a friend. They quickly fell into a routine of travel between Boston and NYC, or would meet up elsewhere to ski, etc. Ultimately the pandemic allowed them to fully embrace remote working and experience daily life together. In December, Clemens planned a weekend getaway to New Hampshire (complete with snowshoeing, scrabble and sparkling rose) and asked Erin to marry him, which she didn’t know had been in the works for months but was happy to commit to. Within a month they bought a Subaru and booked a large house to convene family and friends (travel restrictions willing) in Vermont, halfway between her family in Alaska and California and his in Austria, and with access to the outdoors. We hope you can join us!
