The basque block is a beautiful area that celebrates basque culture through food and other cultural experiences. For a quick sandwich stop into Bar Gernika. For paella and pintxos (like tapas) head over to the basque market and for a sit down dinner with fun drinks we suggest Bardenay. You can also pop into the basque museum to learn more about the basque culture.
One of our favorite places and where we had our first date. This wine bar features dozens of wines that are poured through machines by the ounce. You can order by the glass as well, but to use the machines you will need to purchase a card for less than $5.
Anyone can do it! We have seen people floating in kayaks, inner tubes, pool toys, and air mattresses. The floating starts in Barber Park and ends in Anne Morrison Park. They have tube rentals at the park and a shuttle bus between the two. The water is chilly, so it is a good way to cool off in the summer.
Almost all the restaurants in the downtown area are great, but here are a couple others we love: Yoi Tomo: Sushi, Bittercreek Ale House: American (lots of fun drinks), Tin Roof Tacos: Street Tacos, The Reef: Rooftop (great for drinks) American, Guru Donuts, and Chip: Warm, Giant Chocolate Chip Cookies.
