We are so excited to celebrate our engagement with all of you! Within just a month of dating, it was clear we weren’t meant for anything ordinary—especially when it came to our wedding. From the start, we found ourselves dreaming up something different: skipping the traditional path and planning an engagement party followed by an elopement. It wasn’t about breaking the rules; it was about creating something that felt perfectly, wildly, us.
Hers: I started my new job at Scripps and I was getting a lot of questions about my relationship status. After the first few times I started making jokes and pretty much saying, "I'm single AF. If you know someone, set a girl up." Well, I got set up a few times... and ironically a few the same week we met, but I digress. One of the nurses, Sam, came up to me and said she wanted me to meet her brother and showed me a picture where half of his face is cropped, he's wearing sun glasses and a hat. I said, sure, why not? A few months later, I got a text from him when I was abroad in the Netherlands asking if we could get together and to tell Sam that he said something heinous to me. Less than 24 hours after I landed, we met up, practically a blind date, and talked for over 6 hours. The next week I booked a flight to visit him in Denver where he asked me officially to be his girlfriend and the rest is history <3 His: On March 9th Bean randomly texted me to ask "How do you feel about dating a Dr?" and I said, "Uh, great? How does she feel about dating an idiot?". Apparently this hot doctor was running around the hospital telling everyone who would listen that she was "Single AF" and to set her up on dates. I then rode a motorcycle 1,200 miles from Denver to San Diego to meet this reheaded doctor that was reportedly a little intimidating only to find out that Samantha didn't even have her number. After relentlessly teasing Sam about how I was going to say awful things to her Dr. friend she finally got her number and I asked Erin to pretend I had said something heinous which shockingly she found funny (although she didn't actually do it, just saying). Erin was naturally in Europe with my future mother in law at the time and we almost missed each other - I extended my trip to CA by a few days for our first date on June 7th, then we had our second date on June 8th and I think we both secretly knew at that point that we were going to get married.
