Carter and Erin’s paths crossed for the first time in July of 2023. Erin worked in a research lab at Georgia Tech in the School of Physiology. Meanwhile, Carter was new to Atlanta, Georgia, having transferred as a graduate student from the United States Air Force Academy. One of the labs her team conducted was on wearable watch sensors for the basketball team. When they arrived for research that day, Erin and Carter caught each other’s eye. They were paired together for the study and stayed after to chat for a while before parting ways. Erin’s kind eyes and warm smile made an impression on Carter. Erin, in turn, noticed something about his genuine heart, charm, and humility in the way he carried himself. After that day, they both had thoughts as if they would see each other again. As the school year began, they frequently saw each other around the college athletic facilities. They decided to attend church together at Christ Covenant. Their first date was to the Italian restaurant Grana. This marked the beginning of their love story.
