Harmel's on-site guided fly fishing! Or you can fly-fish without one, please make sure you don't use barbed hooks!
Our favorite mountain town in Colorado! Hope you love it as much as we do! A few of our favorite places to eat are Secret Stash (duh) for pizza and margs, Bonez for Mexican, Slogar for their famous fried chicken, and a whole lot more. Walk around downtown, rent a bike or paddleboard at Wheelies & Waves, check out 'All Trails' app for a hike, you can't go wrong!
Rent ATVs right down the road from Harmels. There's over 2,000 miles of ATV, Jeep, & 4WD trails in the Gunnison Valley!! They have a location in Almont and Crested Butte to rent. Here is a list of trails that Colorado Adventure Rentals recommends: Easy / Moderate: Union Park, Slaughterhouse Gulch, Tincup, Mirror Lake, Cumberland Pass, Alpine Tunnel, Pitkin, Pieplant Mill, Texas Creek & Texas Lakes, Lily Pond Moderate: Tincup Pass, Hancock Pass, Italian Creek, American Flag, Cross Mountain
Ask for Tim Mahan to be your guide! Rock Climbing, paddle-boarding, fly fishing, hiking, etc.
The tiny town of Almont is where the Taylor River and the East River come together to form the Gunnison River. AKA, lots of rafting. We recommend Scenic River Tours or Three Rivers Outfitting.
Plenty of easy and moderate hikes around Harmels!
Scenic lift rides, disc golf, downhill mountain biking, activities for kids, hiking, etc!
Telluride is 3hrs away, worth a visit if you've never been!
A great hike Erin did a couple years ago! May need 4WD to get to the trail head. A ton of wildflowers!
Right across the street from Harmels!
Rent an ATV in Lake City and do the Alpine loop! Expect a full day trip to do the loop, stop and have lunch in Silverton, CO- start bright & early! An hour from Gunnison. Lake City is a tiny town, where Erin's parents live in the summer.
Book a wine tour with Dolly's Mountain Shuttles. An hour and a half trip takes you through the largest Aspen Grove in the country.
