Our favorite hangout spot if we're just wanting to enjoy a great craft beer, play some games with friends, and hit Thursday Trivia nights. Hog Molly's is a football themed local brewery with a fun backstory from the friendly owners Lou and Martha Krempel. This is a staple in the Columbus area and brings most locals here for various events and live music. Fun Fact: They have just moved and upgraded their location of the brewery! It's now a huge tap room with extra space, outdoor area with a full stage, full food service, and games! Brandon's Beer Recommendation: Any of their Hefeweizen or Hog Molly IPA Erin's Beer Recommendation: Blindside Blackberry Blonde Ale or any of their seasonals
Hands down this is our favorite brewery in Downtown Columbus! It is right on the White River for beautiful views if you want to enjoy a drink on their patio. They have a few staple craft beers but are also always rotating based on the season. Their food is also phenomenal. Brandon's Beer Recommendation: Wheat Ale Erin's Beer Recommendation: Whatever their sour seasonal is
Brandon will say this is one of the places he brought me to that solidified my decision to move to Indiana. Hard Truth sits on 325 acre's of beautiful woods in Brown County. They are mainly a distillery with an incredible cocktail menu. There is SO much to do at Hard Truth from their ATV tours around the property, live music outdoor venue, distillery tour, barrel tours, Old Fashioned and Mixology master classes, and more. Erin will say yes this absolutely is one of the places that sold me on moving to Indiana. It reminded me very much of home and enjoying a brewery/distillery/wine tour through the Blue Ridge Mountains with my best friends. It offers beautiful views, incredible drinks, fun activities, and great food. Hard Truth is located about 30 minutes from Columbus in Brown County right outside of Nashville, IN. If you decide to hit this spot and have time, head over to the Shops at Nashville! https://www.tanglewoodhideaway.com/nashville-indiana-map-of-shops/
If you're wanting to get on the outskirts of Columbus and start exploring on our country roads, take a drive to 450 North Brewing! Another one of our staple date nights to enjoy a fun atmosphere, good food and drinks. They specialize in craft beer and wine but are known for their Wine Slushies! Brandon's Recommendations: Honey Kolsch Ale & BBQ Pulled Pork Nachos Erin's Recommendations: Blood Moon Ale & Pizza
Best pizza in Columbus! They are also a brewery and have great beer options. Start with their cheese sticks followed by one of their incredible za's. Our favorite is either just their basic cheese or the Lasagna pizza. Brandon's Beer Recommendation: Honey Wheat Ale Erin's Beer Recommendation: Beauregard’s Blueberry Ale
If you go anywhere in Downtown Columbus, make sure you stop by Zaharakos!! It is a staple of this community with rich history dating back to the 1900s. We highly recommend to take a few minutes to read the history of the Zaharako family that immigrated from Greece from their website. You can enjoy THE BEST ice cream, stunning architecture, and an old fashioned soda how it originally was made with soda water and syrup. This is also home to many movie sights!
Nice weather? Enjoy a walk through Mill Race Park that sits right along the White River. You can take the stairs up the Observation Tower that will provide you with incredible views of Columbus but be prepared for the sweat to take you to the top! Enjoy the walk around the pond, covered bridge, and all around the area.
Lucabe is our staple local coffee shop we hit for our coffee beans, anytime we're at the Farmer's Market, or in town. There are two locations: 4th street in Downtown Columbus & on the other side of town right on the river that was converted into the cafe from an old bank. If you stop by on a Saturday morning, make sure to grab a homemade fresh cinnamon roll!
Need a breakfast or lunch spot? Head to the Columbus Airport and enjoy Columbus's best breakfast on the tarmac of the airport. Literally! You walk into the small airport and are feet away from where the planes take off and land to enjoy some cool airplane sightseeing.
