Though we lived down the hall from each other all year, it wasn't until second semester that we started hanging out - mostly because we were the only ones in Glass Hall who wanted to watch the new episodes of "The Walking Dead." Nights watching zombie shows turned into: "You haven't seen this movie? We have to watch it!" That eventually turned into attending each others' performances and screenings, a date or two, and finally a magical first kiss on the top of the Glass Hall parking structure (as seen in the above photo!). The rest is history!
When the world started opening back up in 2022, we just wanted to get the heck out of here for a week or two. We booked a rather impromptu trip to Scotland - like, leaving with two weeks notice because that's the only time we could make it work. Due to the fact that the planning seemed so last-minute, I didn't really think there was going to be a proposal on the horizon. Little did I know Austin had been waiting for us to return to Scotland for years. A little backstory: In 2015, Austin studied abroad at the University of Glasgow. Before he left for those 6 months in Scotland, I told him very haphazardly one night that I was falling in love with him...to which I received a response along the lines of "...thank you." However, after those 6 months abroad, Austin came back and told me he loved me too. He was worth the wait. Fast forward almost 8 years. We're in Glasgow getting ready for an afternoon tea reservation and Austin decides he wants to take the "scenic route"...he knows the city better than I do, so I agree without a second thought. He led us down a seemingly ordinary path on Kelvinhaugh street, next to a wall outside his old student flats. But this was no ordinary path, and no ordinary wall - because what I didn't know, was that at this exact spot on a rainy night 7 years prior, he'd made the decision that he would ask me to marry him someday. So it seemed fitting that he should ask me to be his wife along that very same wall. He'd waited years to return to Scotland to execute the perfect proposal. He'd even hired a photographer to hide across the street (see those pictures in the gallery)! Of course I said yes, and now our wedding is on the horizon! We can't wait to share this day with you!
