How We Met

It all started with Orangutans...

It all started at Homecoming 2017. UNC v. Miami. Amber Sagester (mother of the bride) walked into the Blue Zone at Kenan Memorial Stadium & chatted with a friend in the security line. After hearing the ladies cackle about "Orangutans" (Amber's secret recipe of Tang + Moonshine), the handsome Alex Kelly, standing behind the two, snickers at the convo. Smitten, Amber chats with Alex about the important facts: what’s your age, do you have a job, do you want to meet my daughter? Unbeknownst to Erin, who stood nearby & watched the whole thing unfold like a car crash. Amber brings Alex to her single daughter for the introduction. "Erin, this is Alex. He's 31. Has a job. Went to Carolina." Scott (father of the bride) walks by the interaction, shook his head & wanted no part of the interaction. After a few minutes of polite conversation, Erin says "Great to meet you. I'm going to go watch the game." Alex says he spent the first two quarters not watching the Heels stink at football... but looking for Erin. At halftime, Erin goes to make a plate of her fave...nachos. As she looks up from the line, she sees Alex... who is making a bee-line for her. He comes up to Erin and says "I've been looking for you all game." Dang it... there goes Erin's nachos. Fast forward... After a glass of wine & more conversation, Erin decides it's time to depart and tries the ol "nice to meet you, but I have to go." Alex, persistent as ever, decides he's not done with the conversation, & joins the Sagester tailgate for a bit, asks Erin to dinner that evening & they make their way to Franklin St. As they approached the now-empty Kenan, Alex thinks he's smooth & offers to go into the stadium to chat as he knows "all the ins & outs to get into the stadium as he worked for the team in college" (Erin also worked for the football team in college). Hours later, the two dance to "The way you look tonight" on the 50 yard line, & the rest is history!
