Her side: Adam and I met on a Christian dating app in the summer of 2024. We connected on August 1st. I had been on the app for a little while, but wasn't taking it super seriously. It was more of a joke and for fun rather than anything serious. When Adam messaged me on the app, his opening line was, "Do you still go to Bob Jones?" When I replied that I did, he said, "Cool. I graduated from PCC. I think we are supposed to hate each other." Knowing that information, I immediately went to Instagram to see who he was. I saw that we shared some mutual followers, so I messaged each one of them to ask if they knew who Adam Lund was, and if they could tell me a little bit about him. Each one of them said that Adam was really sweet and really good at soccer. I felt that I was safe to continue messaging him on the app and getting to know him a little better, which is exactly what I did. We messaged back and forth off and on for about a week and a half before Adam agreed to drive from Asheville NC, where he was living, to meet my parents and me in Greenville, SC, before taking me out on a first date. I was skeptical of this first meeting, because I didn't know him and wasn't sure how serious he was about meeting me. But I was excited to get the opportunity to go on a date with someone. The night before our first date, I was nervous and concerned that I was going to hurt his feelings. I wasn't sure if I was ready to start dating someone at the time, and I couldn't tell how well I really connected with Adam since we had only communicated over text, and not very often. But my friends and family kept encouraging me that it was low-pressure, that I was only hanging out with a guy, and that it was going to be a really fun experience. Adam and I got coffee together at Bridge City for our first date. I had a list in my phone of things I was specifically looking for in conversation and in his actions. Adam checked every single box. At the end of the date, he asked me if I would agree to go on a second date with him in Asheville. At the end of our second date, I went home and wrote, "I want to marry him" in my journal, and the rest is history. His side: I moved to Asheville in the spring of 2024. I wasn’t meeting many people so I decided to try a dating app I’d heard about but I didn’t have any high hopes or expectations. Eventually Erin and I came across each other and started talking, the conversation started with some jokes about PCC and BJU but quickly became meaningful and interesting. We decided to set up a date to meet each other, I came down to Greenville to meet her dad and go out to coffee with her. Blue was still a puppy at the time so she came along too. The date started with Blue jumping all over Erin, and riding on her lap on the way to coffee. Blue approved of Erin which was the first test. Our first date went very well, Erin wasn’t afraid to ask hard questions and I really enjoyed spending time with her. We both agreed to a second date in Asheville which consisted of dinner, mini golf and a sunset walk. I was feeling brave on the second date and told her we’d get married someday, luckily that didn’t scare her away and she said yes a year later.
