Covid-19 Updates

This section describes measures that we are taking to ensure our wedding is as safe as possible
Question

Will there be hand sanitizer?

Answer

Yes, we will provide hand sanitizer at the ceremony and reception.

Question

Should I bring a mask?

Answer

We encourage you to bring a mask. We will also have masks available at the ceremony

Question

What if the Virginia Governor reinstates phase two restrictions, and occupancy is reduced to 50 people?

Answer

We will go forward with our wedding as planned, with a reduced guest list. If phase two is implemented, we will not have room for plus-ones. We strongly encourage guests who are no longer comfortable attending to reach out as soon as possible. We will also contact you directly to let you know if we able to have you in attendance.

Question

How do I contact Erin and/or Sumner if circumstances change after I RSVP?

Answer

Our email addresses are sshigginbotham16@gmail.com and enlottes@gmail.com. Our phone numbers are: 434-907-8560 (Sumner) and 540-273-4390 (Erin).

Question

What if phase 1 restrictions are implemented? (Gatherings of 10 people or less)

Answer

In the case of restrictions limiting gatherings to ten or fewer people, we will postpone our wedding to sometime in 2021 or 2022.

Question

How is the Ceremony situated for Covid and social distancing?

Answer

The ceremony will be held in the outdoor grassy area adjacent to the Freight Shed- also referred to as the Yorktown Performance Area. The ceremony will have socially-distanced seating for older guests, and we expect the younger guests to stand also socially-distanced by household groups. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available for guests before the ceremony.

Question

How is the Freight Shed situated for Covid and Social distancing?

Answer

The Freight Shed includes a brick patio with three large glass doors opening from the reception hall to the patio covered by a large tent. These large doors will also be kept open (weather permitting) during dinner to maximize ventilation, and throughout the night. The dance floor and bar will be out on the patio to encourage guests to socialize outdoors. Additionally, the Freight Shed patio opens to the Yorktown boardwalk. While all alcohol must be consumed within the tent or building, we welcome guests socializing on the boardwalk as well if they feel the need for more space.

Question

What can I do to help make the wedding as safe as possible?

Answer

Please stay home if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID 19. We encourage the use of a mask while indoors, and encourage the use of hand sanitizer. If you are not comfortable attending, we understand completely. Your health and safety are important to us, and we will celebrate with you when we see you again!
