Danny and Erin met at UH Manoa. Erin was in undergrad, getting her BA in theatre and Danny was in grad school pursuing his MFA in acting. The theatre department was small so they had a lot of the same friends and classes. In the fall of 2008, they were cast in a play about a young woman who washes up on a beach and the man that finds her and falls in love with her. By the following spring - surprise, surprise - the words on the page sprang to life and love came to find them in the real world. They've been together ever since.
In 2009, just after they made their feelings known, Erin packed up her things and headed to Seattle to spend a summer with her brother, Ethan. She was considering leaving school to pursue acting full time and Seattle seemed like a decent place to start. A few weeks after she arrived, Danny had an overnight layover in Seattle after visiting family in Missouri. Erin borrowed her brother's truck and picked up Danny from the airport. They spent the night sitting in Green Lake Park, talking and laughing until the sun came up. She took Danny back to the airport knowing she was heading home soon too. Fast forward to 2017. Erin and Danny went back to Seattle to spend Thanksgiving with her family. Everyone was there: Mom, Dad, Ethan, his wife Lily, and their daughter Lincoln. Danny kept mentioning how he'd really like to go back to Green Lake Park, the site of one of their very first dates. Erin thought that was sweet because Danny isn't often nostalgic, but it had been raining non-stop since they landed. He was determined, so she relented. They meandered around in the rain until they found the spot they had talked for so long all those years ago (almost 9, if you're counting). Danny pushed the umbrella he'd been holding into Erin's hands and asked her if his hair was ok. She laughed and said yes. He reached into his jacket pocket and fumbled around for something she couldn't see. Erin was ready to get out of the rain and into some lunch, but something seemed funny - Danny was talking about how much he loved her and how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and all of a sudden, there he was, knee in a puddle holding a beautiful ring in a box, "Will you marry me?" She said yes.
