Just a fifteen minute car or taxi ride from the wedding site, Waikiki Beach is a vibrant neighborhood known for its popular surf beach with high-rise hotels lining the shore. Designer fashion stores line Kalakaua Avenue and nearby streets, and the area buzzes after dark with waterside cocktail bars, fine dining and Kuhio Beach hula shows. Honolulu Zoo is home to Komodo dragons and wandering peacocks, while parrot fish and urchins inhabit Waikiki Aquarium’s reef exhibit.
If you're a hiking type of person, you'll be in heaven with all the hiking options in Hawaii. One of our favorite is Koko Crater in Hawaii Kai. A short drive from Diamond Head and Waikiki, this popular hiking trail can be accessed at Koko Head Park. This is a great workout with a beautiful view at the summit.
If, in addition to the gorgeous beaches, you you want to get some time in on the fairways, take note: Oahu (translation: the Gathering Place) leads the state in number & variety of golf courses, and they include some absolute stunners. The experience of teeing up against a backdrop of lush rainforest and jagged emerald mountains has no parallel on the U.S. mainland. About a one hour drive from Waikiki is Oahu's famous North Shore, known for its massive waves and professional surf competitions. Don't forget to check out the historic Haleiwa town while you're there. https://www.gohawaii.com/islands/oahu/regions/north-shore Stop by the famous Giovanni's Shrimp Truck (http://www.giovannisshrimptruck.com/) for lunch. Although there could be a huge line and there are plenty of other great local food options too. On the way back, stop by the Dole Pineapple Plantation. https://www.doleplantation.com/
