Venue History

The Rookery
The building is one of Chicago’s earliest commercial skyscrapers, combining iron framing with masonry walls, an innovative approach at the time.
1895 Frank Lloyd Wright, then a young architect, was commissioned to redesign the interior lobby. He introduced elements of his Prairie Style, adding to the building’s architectural significance.
The central light court was a signature feature, designed to bring natural light into the building’s interior, enhancing its functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Today, The Rookery continues to function as an office building, retaining its historic
charm while serving modern businesses.
The Rookery remains an iconic example of Chicago’s architectural heritage
and continues to attract architecture enthusiasts from around the world.
