FAQs

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Santo Domingo is the capital city of a Caribbean Island, so you can expect some humidity and the passing shower. Thankfully in January, temps tend to top out in the 80s and the humidity is lower than other times of the year. You certainly won’t get cold, but by the time the sun goes down for the ceremony/reception, we should have comfortable temps in the 70s.

Question

Will I be safe??

Answer

With everything in the news lately, we understand this concern. Tourism drives the economy, with close to 3 million Americans alone visiting each year, so the country is extrememly friendly to tourists. The state department currently has the DR at travel alert level 2, the same as Italy, Spain, Germany, and the UK. Please be assured that traveling to Santo Domingo is like any other international city. It is always good to be aware of your surroundings, as in any space, but the Colonial Zone in particular is very safe for tourists. We have recommended other locales to visit that are safe and friendly for international travelers. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Question

What’s the best way to get around?

Answer

If you’re not renting a car, Uber or Santo Domingo Taxi are both reliable. Randy and I have used Uber on many occasions. If you’re staying at a hotel, they can more than likely call you a cab as well

Question

Is flying into Punta Cana ok?

Answer

Punta Cana is about 2-2.5 hours from Santo Domingo, so once you’ve landed there you’d have to take a bus to get to Santo Domingo. Generally it’s easier to just fly into SDQ

Question

Are you registered? Where?

Answer

Yes! We have a small registry here through Zola as well as on Amazon, Anthropologie, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. All the links are on the registry page.

Question

I have a food allergy, can I make a special request?

Answer

Please email us at erikayrandy@gmail.com so we can make sure there is something for you to eat!

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

We are going semi-formal for this wedding. In the DR, wedding guests are either beachy casual or dressed to the nines. Since we’re doing an evening wedding on a Saturday in the city, it’s a great time to break out slightly more formal attire!

Question

Can I bring a date?

Answer

If your invitation was addressed to you and a guest, please bring them! Otherwise, we have a limited space with limited seating, and have already accounted for spouses/significant others.

Question

Is there parking for the ceremony or reception?

Answer

There is limited street parking in the Colonial Zone. We recommend an Uber, but are working with the Sheraton to provide a shuttle service to and from!
