We were paired together on a social sports beach volleyball team in Boston. In an act of protection (his viewpoint) or in an act of competitiveness (my viewpoint), he knocked me over attempting to prevent the other team from spiking the ball in my face. Regardless of the intention, he swept (or body checked) me off my feet. The fun we had on and off the court made it obvious that we should be teammates for life.
On the anniversary of when we first met, we went biking through the dunes in Provincetown ending with a picnic on the beach. The initial part of the bike ride did not go as planned, which left me in a tricky situation when I realized the ring was missing! As I walked back from the ocean with two cleaned oysters, I knew exactly what to do. I poured two glasses of champagne, shucked the oysters, and got on one knee to propose with an oyster. Without a pearl or a ring, she said “YES”. I was all she needed. We are beyond excited to celebrate our union with all of you! See you on the Cape!
