This is our favorite place to go when we head downtown. Right across the street from the DoubleTree, in the heart of downtown. Good steaks, salads, cocktails - never had a bad meal here!
Best Italian food in town. Walking distance from the Doubletree Hotel. Always has a pretty long wait to get a table. But call ahead to get your name on the waitlist. They take reservations of groups of 8 or more!
Across the street from the Doubletree Hotel, in the heart of downtown. Elevated gastropub menu. Great craft cocktails. Sit in the lounge, as it is a upscale casual. If you need a night cap, or a small bite to eat, this is a great place.
AKA "The Brew Pub" Good all-around menu, something for everyone. Kid friendly. Billings oldest brewery. In the heart of Downtown. Right next door/attached is Hooligan's Sports Bar.
Hands down the best place to get a martini with over 30 to choose from.
If this is your first time in Billings, you have to head to Tiny's Tavern for their infamous Orange Crush. And you better buy a t-shirt that says "I got Crushed at Tiny's". They have a great patio and good fried chicken!
Best wings in town, hands down.
1 hour away, or approximately 50 miles. - Great eateries and many different galleries and boutiques - Red Lodge Ski Mountain - in the summer you can take a chair lift up the mountain. - Beartooth Pass (if you're going to Red Lodge then driving up the switchbacks/pass is a must-do)
1 hour from Billings, or aprox. 50 miles.
If you plan to go through the park, & want to stay in or around it, I suggest booking your lodging ASAP. This is the busiest time for travel in the area. Plan accordingly, it’s bigger and longer travel than you think in order to see the entire park. There are routes that you can do in one full day, but you won’t be able to stop and venture much if you want to make it back to Billings. If you want a day-trip route, go through Red lodge, Beartooth Pass, North East Entrance, across the northern part of the Park to Mammoth and exit the North Entrance in Gardiner, to Livingston back to Billings. Yellowstone National Park North Entrance (From Billings west to Livingston, south to Gardiner, MT) 170 miles, 2 ½ hours North East Entrance Through Red Lodge, Beartooth Pass, Cooke City 190 miles, approx 3 hours 15 minutes East Entrance South to Cody, WY 160 miles, just under 3 hours West Entrance West to Bozeman, South to West Yellowstone 230 miles, just under 4 hrs
Easier hike, kid friendly, well taken care of trails.
