When Felicia and Erik met on his first day of college, they had no idea what was to come. She was his freshman year Resident Assistant (RA) - and is ironically still his RA. Through the years and a little healthy competition, they became close friends. Felicia and Erik were both intramural soccer goalies, so after each game they would walk back to the dorms together. Sometimes they would take the long way, just so they could talk a little longer. It didn’t take long for their friends to clue in, and ask what was going on. Felicia would always say, “if it’s meant to be, it will be”. With busy schedules and big life moments, the timing never seemed right. They continued to hang out post-graduation then one day, Erik looked at Felicia and said, “I don’t think there’s any more excuses why we shouldn’t give this a shot.” That was five years ago, and they've never looked back.

Despite not making it to Italy as originally planned, Erik’s proposal was nothing short of spectacular. In true Erik fashion and little to Felicia’s knowledge, the birthday plans she had for Erik turned into their engagement celebration. On April 8, 2020, Felicia and Erik scrapped their work from home sweatpants and dressed up for this birthday. She decorated the house and tried to bring Italy to MA with takeout from one of their favorite Italian restaurants. After dinner, Erik asked if she wanted to slow dance in the kitchen. While slow dancing, Erik got down on one knee. She of course said yes, and later joked, “aren’t I the one who’s supposed to get you a gift?”, to which Erik replied, “you are the greatest gift of all”. Immediately after Erik proposed, he ran into the family room and later explained that he wanted to see what song was playing on Pandora. Fittingly, it was Canon by Pachelbel, which is the same song they will walk down the aisle to.
