A love story that started on a dating app where they both shared an interest in the newest Legend of Zelda game. Their first date entailed beers and a trivia games at a pub in Palo Alto. Erika was so impressed by Alejandro's endless knowledge of random facts. Alejandro left to Europe a week after they met and could not stop thinking about Erika. After he came back, they continued to go on fun and cute San Francisco dates. A few months later, Alejandro and Erika made it official when they went on their first Disneyland Trip together.

After two previously cancelled Japan trips related to the Pandemic, Erika and Alejandro were finally able to travel to Japan in May 2023. Visiting a resort near Mount Fuji was a top thing on their must-do in Japan from the beginning and they were on cloud nine to finally be there! Mount Fuji is known to be shy and have its beauty covered in clouds majority of the year. However, the day Alejandro proposed, they went kayaking on a lake that faces Mount Fuji on a rare beautiful clear day. Alejandro contemplated proposing to Erika while on their shared kayak on the lake, keeping the ring in a tight pocket in his jacket to avoid it accidentally dropping. Erika has a hard time staying still and kept moving the kayak erratically so Alejandro made the decision to hold off proposing. Erika and Alejandro made their way back to the hotel room after and shared a moment on the balcony that looks over the clarity of Mount Fuji. From there, Alejandro saw this as an another opportunity to ask the question. After Erika told Alejandro, "I love you so much!", Alejandro reached into his pocket and said, "Well... will you marry me?" and revealed the most beautiful Alexandrite engagement ring. Erika appeared overwhelmed with emotion and yelped, "Yes!"
