So... We Got Married

As you know, last year we ended up postponing our wedding due to the ongoing pandemic. However, we didn't want it to stand in the way of a day we had looked forward to for so long! So, on January 23, 2021 we eloped at Latourell Falls in an intimate ceremony with just a handful of friends — and parents over Zoom. While the day was so special and memorable to us both, we still want to celebrate with YOU! We hope you'll join us as we do it all over again — just bigger and better, this time.

How We Met

10.24.2016

I tried to Google "How do algorithms work?" to answer this question, but it seemed a bit convoluted — so I'll spare you the details. In short, we both swiped left a bunch until we finally swiped right. After exchanging a few kind words, we met face to face at The Blind Donkey in downtown Pasadena. A few drinks in, and Seth was thoroughly impressed by Erika's ability to quote Seinfeld; while Erika was enamored by Seth's status as a literal hero to the animals. We talked about politics, religion, and money on night one and, miraculously, no one seemed scared off. We said goodbye after a few hours, without a kiss, which Erika is still holding over his head. (He insists he was being polite.) Nevertheless, Seth texted Erika minutes later for a second date — and one week later, we were five dates deep and officially "off the apps" for good.

The Proposal

12.14.2019

Three months into dating, Seth and Erika went to Ventura to meet Seth's family at a Christmas boat parade, an annual tradition for the Holiens. That was the night of our first big fight, as well as the first time we said the "L word." Three years later, we re-visited the scene of the crime. After dinner and fireworks, Erika was feeling old and exhausted, and sensed a headache coming on — suggesting we head back to the hotel. Seth instead insisted we needed to sit at the back of the boat alone one more time, and Erika reluctantly agreed. Upon arrival at the back of the boat, however, Seth grew concerned that a proposal in said spot could result in an expensive new ring being knocked overboard... So, he further prodded Erika to climb to the top of the boat. She was not thrilled about the suggestion, due to the aforementioned headache, but reluctantly made her way up the ladder. Once at the top, she continued to be a pain in the butt, pulling him over to the benches to sit down, to which he responded "Can you just hold on for a second?!" When Erika turned around, however, she noticed he was on one knee, with a box in his hands. There was a lot of tears and sweet words, but we'll spare you those details. After leaving the party, we hit up the Del Taco drive-thru and ate it in the hotel room bed. A perfect night.
