Bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, I showed up for the final interview for my first job out of college. One of Erika's HR colleague's insisted that she escort this "cute soccer player" from the LBrands lobby, up to my future boss' corner office. My typical nervous, sweating bullets self was pleasantly surprised when a beautiful blonde came down to lead me on my way. I don't remember much of the final interview, but I vividly remember the the walk up the grand staircase with Erika. Our "small talk" quickly revealed a surface level connection -- to Parma, Ohio-- but there was clearly something deeper... Legend has it, Erika immediately went back to her team and proclaimed "I am going to marry that kid someday!" As I've come to realize, now 6 years from that moment, Erika is ALWAYS right. Opposite of Erika, I had made it fairly clear that, as an aspiring young professional, I would abide by a self imposed rule of "don't mix business with pleasure". It took me a little longer--4 years to be exact--to acknowledge this initial divine intervention. They say time discovers all truth, and finally I broke the rule and asked the love of my life to go out for dinner at The Avenue.
