Travel Note
You’ll be flying into Edinburgh Airport (EDI)—about 30 minutes from the city center and roughly 45 minutes from Borthwick Castle. Direct international flights are available from several major U.S. cities, and plenty of connections are available through London, Amsterdam, or Dublin if you're feeling extra European. Don’t Forget Your Passport! Please make sure your passport is valid and doesn’t expire within six months of the wedding date (i.e., not before September 2027). Some airlines and customs officials may refuse boarding or entry if you’re too close to expiration. We love you and want you at the castle, so check now, babes. 💋
Travel Note
If you're considering flying into London Heathrow Airport (LHR) to potentially save on airfare or enjoy a brief London adventure before the wedding, there are several options to travel from London to Edinburgh: By Air: Connecting Flights: Multiple airlines offer direct flights from London Heathrow (LHR) to Edinburgh Airport (EDI). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. Booking in advance can secure fares as low as $71 one-way or $152 round-trip. By Train: From King's Cross to Edinburgh: Direct trains operated by LNER and Lumo depart from King's Cross to Edinburgh Waverley Station. The train journey takes around 4 to 4.5 hours. Booking tickets in advance can secure fares starting from £54.50. By Bus: Long-Distance Coaches: Companies like Megabus and National Express operate coach services from London to Edinburgh. Ensure that any connections align with your overall travel itinerary to make the journey as smooth as possible.
Travel Note
Shuttle Service will be provided for the main events from our designated hotel in Edinburgh (TBD--likely Virgin Hotels Edinburgh). Rental Cars are optional—parking is available at Borthwick Castle if you prefer to drive. See the FAQ section for car-related details! Ubers & Taxis can be spotty outside Edinburgh proper. Plan accordingly (a.k.a., don’t get stuck in the Highlands with a dead phone and a bagpipe solo).

Travel Note
We recommend arriving in Edinburgh no later than Thursday, March 18th, 2027, to give yourself time to get settled and explore before festivities begin. If you're making a full trip out of it (yes, please!), there’s so much to see—from castles to whisky tours to standing stones older than your aunt’s opinions.
Travel Note
1. Pack for layers + rain – Scotland in March = moody skies. Bring coats, scarves, waterproof shoes, and stylish flexibility. 2. Bring a UK power adapter – Type G plugs are the thick three-pronged ones. A voltage converter may be needed for hot tools. 3. Arrive early if you can – We recommend landing by Thursday, March 18th to recover from jet lag and get your bearings. 4. Notify your bank + use cards – Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted. You likely won’t need cash. 5. Double-check your phone plan – Make sure you have international coverage, or grab a UK SIM or eSIM for ease. 6. Stay hydrated – Between flights, whisky tastings, and castle revelry, water is essential. Don’t make us parent you. 7. Bring a day bag – Great for sightseeing, stashing snacks, layers, and any irresistible souvenirs. 8. Tipping is appreciated, not expected – 10–15% at restaurants is generous. No need to tip at pubs unless you want to. 9. Chill out – Travel can be stressful. Expect for some plans to go awry, build in extra time for missed connections, lost luggage, etc. Pack essentials and 1-2 extra outfits in your carry-on. 10. Learn a few key Scots phrases – Everyone speaks English, but tossing in a wee “cheers” or “aye” earns major local love: “Aye” – Yes “Nae bother” – No problem “Wee” – Small/little “Cheers” – Thanks or goodbye “Dinna fash yersel’” – Don’t worry yourself “Braw” – Great/awesome “Haste ye back!” – Come back soon! Got questions about any of this? Need help booking something or choosing a jacket? Reach out to Erika or Ryan—we’re more than happy to help. That said, if you’re messaging us the night before the wedding about forgotten socks or boarding passes… we love you, but kindly dinna fash yersel’. 😘
