Nikko and I met as I was finishing my first year of mission in Kansas. All through that year my prayer was that God reveal to me where home was. Unbeknownst to me, a couple of days before I had to leave home for mission fundraising, Nikko was meeting my boss for lunch. It was through that conversation that my boss told Nikko that he should take one of his missionaries, aka me, on a date. Nikko called me a couple of days after, to ask me out, and I hesitantly agreed. I have to say he did most of the talking during that date because I was so nervous, and was still in denial about what was going on, but at the same time I’d never felt more at peace and more freeing than I did sharing about my life with Nikko. I went back to Texas a day after that date, hoping that Nikko liked me just as much as I liked him. And little did I know, he did. We talked on the phone every night for hours, sharing about our interests and desires, and him showing me his favorite movies via Zoom. We were always in anticipation as to when we were going to see each other next and where the Lord was taking us. We spent the next few months growing deeper in love with each other and God, getting know each other’s friends and families, and laughing so much together. Slowly but surely, God was revealing not only to me, but to the both of us, that home was Kansas, home was each other, and the rest would be history. We are joyfully and prayerfully anticipating our union together on May 13, 2023
